Narratives: A Reverend, Rabbi, Imam, and Psychoanalyst Discuss the Many Roles of Narratives in Our Lives
Tuesday, January 14, 2025 • 14 Tevet 5785
7:00 PM - 8:15 PMZOOM ONLYWell before last October the teachers for this class have been working with the role narratives in our lives and our professions. Understanding and articulating one’s own narrative is a fundamental aspect of psychoanalysis. Similarly, learning narratives from religious faiths is integral to many people’s primary traditions. These narratives are transformative, shaping our conceptions of family, community, and self. They can be shaken up in psychoanalytic work and serve as a bedrock of religious practice.
Please join the discussions in this zoom class.
Jan 14 and 28, Feb 11, 18 and 25th.

Many of us who have been educated in the Jewish community have learned a list of things that Christians believe but we couldn't or shouldn't believe. But early Christianity grew out of Judaism, and the overlap of the two faiths is considerable—including beliefs and practices that allegedly distinguish the two religions but really do not. Please join us as Professor Kraemer challenges some of the false differences, only to uncover the real, nuanced differences that distinguish each religion from the other. -
