Well before last October the teachers for this class have been working with the role narratives in our lives and our professions. Understanding and articulating one’s own narrative is a fundamental aspect of psychoanalysis. Similarly, learning narratives from religious faiths is integral to many people’s primary traditions. These narratives are transformative, shaping our conceptions of family, community, and self. They can be shaken up in psychoanalytic work and serve as a bedrock of religious practice.
