Cantor
Cantor Kochava Munro
Cantor Kochava Munro received cantorial ordination and a Master's of Jewish Education from Hebrew College in Newton, MA in 2023. She was raised in Woodbridge, CT as a child, but has lived in Florida, New Jersey, Vermont, and Massachusetts. As a daughter of a cantor, she learned to lead services and chant Torah from a young age. Prior to Hebrew College, Cantor Kochava graduated from the University of Hartford with a degree in mathematics and secondary education but soon realized that her true passion was cantorial work. She served as the cantorial soloist for Ohavi Zedek Synagogue in Burlington, VT from 2017-2019. She looks forward to bringing joyful musical programs to Congregation B'nai Jacob and building community through song. When she is not singing or playing guitar, Cantor Kochava loves bird watching, hiking, reading, and watching the latest action movie. She and her husband, Jacob Munro, look forward to being a part of this wonderful community

Using Gila Fine’s award-winning book, The Madwoman in the Rabbi’s Attic, we will study the talmudic passages about the six named women in the Talmud. This will give us the opportunity to learn some Talmud together, to think more about the role of women in the Talmud, and to dig into Fine’s work more deeply. Everyone is welcome. No experience necessary. Free for members; non-members $100.
